What makes something a “metal knuckle”?
I know it sounds like an odd question, but bare with me. I just recently bought an pair of shukos (ninja climbing claws) while at my college in arizona. I plan to go back to san diego for the summer, thats where i’m from, and I wanted to make sure that bringing these items back would not be considered illegal. while searching california law, I saw no mention prohibiting A shuko, but I saw that metal knuckles are prohibited. So what I really want to know is if a shuko would be considered a metal knuckle?
here is a link to what a shuko looks like and how they are worn:

Here is an excerpt from my source:
“…(7) As used in this section, “metal knuckles” means any device or instrument made wholly or partially of metal which is worn for purposes of offense or defense in or on the hand and which either protects the wearer’s hand while striking a blow or increases the force of impact from the blow or injury to the individual receiving the blow. The metal contained in the device may help support the hand or fist, provide a shield to protect it, or consist of projections or studs which would contact the individual receiving a blow.”
The 2nd source provides more direct information on the legality of Shukos in California!
Quoted from the 2nd source:
“…Disclaimer:
Hand claws are prohibited in New York, California and Massachusetts. All weapons are for demonstration or decorative purposes only. If used for demonstration, expert care and supervision should be exercised.”
I can’t say it any more directly than that disclaimer did! Prohibited … I’d keep the shukos out of California if I were you!
