Your child might be able to receive free tutoring or transfer to another school. Sometimes schools do not inform parents of these opportunities. Your school "report card" is public knowledge. Arizona probably has a web site for the state education department that has this information. You can also obtain or at least read the "report card" on their school and district office. I want to get familiar with the information they receive and with other parents and demand to know how the school is working to change these deficiencies. Meanwhile, as another answer suggested that should do everything possible to protect education of his son. 1. Get a copy of the state curriculum for their grade. 2. There are books available that teach it and try to see the results. 3. Consider hiring a tutor if not provided by the school. Maybe some parents can gather to share the costs.
