Tucson is a history of time and a river. The roots of prehistoric habitation run deep along the Santa Cruz River, reaching back thousands of years. Later the river attracted 17th-century Spanish explorers, who brought military government, the church, and colonists to establish the northern outpost of their New World empire. Later still, American westward expansion drew new settlers to the place called Tucson. Today Tucson is a bustling multicultural community of more than one million residents. These images from the photographic archives of the Arizona Historical Society tell the stories of individuals and cultures that transformed a 19th-century frontier village into a 20th-century desert city.

arizona times zone

arizona times zone arizona times zone

In a great example of too little too late, there were 4 disorders AP Top 25 teams in week 12 of college football and none of them had an impact real. Moreover, the two favorites won road games great time with great implications buried Ohio Michigan 21-10, Oregon and Arizona held off a very pesky team, 44-41.

Last week, 9 rank Ohio State Buckeyes (10-2) beat Iowa to win his first trip to the Rose Bowl in 13 years. By beating Michigan (5-7 and no bowl eligible), Ohio State won the Big Ten title absolute to 7-1, losing only to Purdue. The Buckeyes led Michigan 21.10 after three quarters and the two teams played a 4th quarter touchdowns.

The range 11 Oregon Ducks (9-2) were in trouble midway through the fourth quarter, when Arizona gave one 31-24 lead on a screen of 71-yard Nick Foles to Juron Criner, and then the Wildcats had possession and could have won the game by running out the clock.

But a long pass into the end zone was intercepted by Oregon Talmadge Jackson III (dude, it's a name), and opened the door to Duck quarterback Jeremiah Masoli to tie it at 31 each, with an 8-yarder to Ed Dickson with only 6 seconds left.

In the first overtime, Jeff Machi Masoli success of 4-yards, and Foles success Juron Criner with a 3-yards to send the game into a second overtime. The Duck defense held and Arizona had to settle for a field goal from 41 yards by Alex Zendejas. Oregon then showed why is the best team-Masoli found Dickson, 22-yard completion and then three plays later, Masoli bulled from a yard and Oregon won, 44-41.

Masoli The Ducks' accounted for 6 runs in the game-3 passing and 3 running. He went 26-of-47 for 284 yards and caught another 61 yards on 16 carries.

By winning, ducks are erected to win a Pac-10 title and Rose Bowl berth against Ohio State if and is a big if-the visitors defeated 20th ranked Oregon State Beavers (8-3) a winner-takes-all clash of the Civil War on Saturday in Eugene.

Beavers, one of the dirtiest teams in college football (they like to hurt opposing players legally with small things like the helmet to helmet hits), invade Oregon Autzen Stadium, home to some of the nation most neglected hoarse, nose, collection of fans who like to throw unopened cans of pop rival players. The ducks have also been known to throw blows pig to rival players.

They call the Annual Oregon Oregon State Civil War rivalry for a reason. Both teams like to punish others, so hopefully that is a very physical game, especially with a Pac-10 title and a trip to the Rose Bowl on the line.

The four surprises this week that added little to the season includes Mississippi (8-3) at home 25-23 over 10th ranked LSU (8-3), Northwestern (8-4) at home 33-31 over 17th-ranked Wisconsin (8-3 ) Syracuse (4-7) at home 31-13 over 25th-ranked Rutgers (7-3) and California (8-3) on the road 34-28 over No. 14 Stanford (7-4).

Stanford did not lose because their striker Toby Gerhart did. Gerhart did his part and more, picking up 136 yards on 20 carries (6.8 yards per carry), scoring 4 touchdowns, and bring the defenders in a 29-yard reception, which was created in California 13 Stanford yard with less than 2 minutes. Unfortunately for the Cardinal, Andrew Luck threw an interception to kill the drive that could have put Stanford ahead and won the game.

Indeed, Stanford's defense simply could not hold off the Bears' Shane Vereen, who rushed for a career-high 193 yards on 42 carries (4.6 yards per carry) and scored 3 touchdowns. It is difficult to win a game when you give up 34 points.

Eleven Top-25 teams won home games this week, and three top-rated undefeated teams-Florida, Alabama and Texas, all won with authority to maintain its image and its representative in order.

The No. 1-ranked Florida Gators (11-0) gave rival Florida International Golden Panthers, a lesson he will never forget, 62-3. No. 2-ranked Alabama (11-0) excluding 1-AA Chattanooga 45-0. No. 3-ranked Texas (11-0) to beat Kansas 51-20.

Among other victories house 12th ranked Oklahoma State (9-2) at Colorado, 31-28, 15-ranked Iowa (10-2) shut out Minnesota 12-0, 16-ranked Virginia Tech (8-3) at Carolina North 38-10, 18-ranked Clemson (8-3) at Virginia, 34-21, 19-ranked Brigham Young (9-2) at Air Force 38-21, 21-ranked Miami of Florida (8 -3) versus Duke 34-16, 23-ranked Utah (9-2) over San Diego State 38-7, and 24 rank Houston (9-2) over Memphis 55-14.

Four other top-25 teams earned victories away from home this week. No. 14-ranked Texas Christian (11-0) remained undefeated for the crack Wyoming 45-10, 6th-ranked Boise State (11-0) maintained its perfect slate with a club 52-21 Utah State 13, Penn State rank (10-2) made it look easy Against Michigan State 42-14, and 20 rank Oregon State (8-3) beat Washington State 42-10.

Three top-25 teams were idle-5th ranked Cincinnati 7th ranked Georgia Tech and the 8th ranked Pittsburgh.

Six teams won and became bowl eligible. These Bowling Green (6-5) at Akron 36-20, Florida State (6-5) 29-26 over Maryland, Texas A & M (6-5) at Baylor 38-3, UCLA (6-5) at Arizona State 23-13, Tennessee (6-5) at Vanderbilt, 31-16, and Louisiana Lafayette (6 to 5) state again in Monroe, Louisiana rival 21-17.

Four other parties were remarkable. Temple (9-2) won their 9th straight game 47-13 over Kent State, Central Michigan (9-2) won their 9 game 35-3 over Ball State, Notre Dame unhappy (6-5) was upset 33-30 by Connecticut in a second overtime period, and New Mexico (1-10) finally won a game this year, beating the red face Colorado State 29-27.
