It will not only hurt the entire US economy, it’ll cause a rise in crime. Laws like SB1070 will scare people from reporting crime they witness or crime they are victims of. Criminals will now focus on Hispanics that seem to be illegally here because they know they won’t report.

I know some might have already asked this question, but I don’t have time to browse.
I am considering changing my witholdings due to the nauseating fact that some states in the midwest (I’m in Arizona) recieved a nice little IOU from the state rather than the money they were owed. Whether or not the money will become available to the tanking economy anytime soon is questionable.
I REALL don’t want to get an IOU.Ridiculous.
So, for those out there that have a little more insight than I do, would you recommend changing to a little less witholding for the remainder of the year?
As true as this is, i withold more than the bare minimum. my refund last year was immense, as i continue to avoid any IRS problems.
So if i end up with an IOU this year i pretty much wont see any of it back?

I would not recommend changing anything if your earnings/tax withholdings in 2009 is relatively the same as 2008, and your refund amount is not large. Each tax year is separate, so if you’d receive a IOU in 2009 for your 2008 tax refund, you are not going to see this as a credit in your 2009 tax.

Now I live in Arizona and want to go to California, because my parents are elderly (82) and want to be near them if they need me. I have been in my current job for 4 months only. The economy is bad and do not know how long will it take to get another job. Being able to collect unemployment that would be a great help.
Contrary to what many think, in some cases you ui can get if you quit. Be careful tho cause file if you say you leave to care for their parents who are old may think that you will devote all his time caring for them and not looking for a job. The purpose of UI is to help with money while you are able and available for work, if nothing can be stated that in his way of seeking work (ie school, without transportation discretionary, not babysitting, health problems, domestic issue), then you run the risk of being found disqualified. Failure to move to another state is not a problem, you may ask how long it took to move, because once again, you could create a problem Availability, if it took 5 days to move then they know you are not looking for a job in those 5 days. It has also been employed prior to the work you has been at least 4 months? Because if it is wages will not be in the base period yet. The base period changes every 3 months. Now the base period is July 07 until June 08 by what any wages earned during that time will be what is used to determine how much you pay per week from the user interface
